This financial assistance program is administered by the Office of the Texas Attorney General and helps eligible victims of crime with certain expenses related to the crime. It is the “the payer of last resort” after primary sources of payment such as health insurance; Medicaid, Medicare, etc. have been exhausted or no longer exist. ·
- You must have been a victim of a violent crime in Texas or be a Texas Resident who becomes a victim in an area that does not have a compensation program.
- You must be willing to follow through in the prosecution of the case

RIGHTS OF CRIME VICTIMS:
As defined in Title 1; Chapter. 56, Texas Code of Criminal procedure, a victim of a violent crime is someone who:
- Suffered bodily injury or death as a result of criminally injurious conduct
- Been a victim of a crime involving sexual assault, kidnapping, or aggravated robbery
- Is the close relative –spouse, parent, sibling, adult child (ren) and/ or guardian of a victim
