Citizens Fire Academy

Have you ever considered a career in the fire service or curious how your fire dept. operates? The DeSoto Citizen Fire Academy is a free comprehensive course designed to give an inside look at the workings of the fire department to those who live in the City of DeSoto. The goal of the program is to provide the opportunity to learn about the workings of our fire department, to ask questions, and to express any concerns.

The Academy will meet every Thursday night for 6 weeks at either Fire Administration or the Fire Training Center.   The class is limited to 10 participants.  Deadline to apply is 7/1/23

To be accepted into the class, you must commit to attending all the classes in the 8-week program.

FAQ's

When does the first class start?  7/13/2023

Who can attend?   If you are 18 years of age or older and are a resident of DeSoto, you are eligible to apply.


How long is each class?  Each evening class begins at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude most evenings at 8:00 p.m. The class is 6 weeks and will include a graduation ceremony and dinner. 


What night will it take place?   The class will take place on Thursday nights.  


When can I enroll?  April 30th.
