3rd Quarter Update July 2022
On July 19, staff provided an update to the City Council recommending that the Arts Commission and Historical Foundation be combined into one foundation called the DeSoto Texas Cultural Arts Foundation. The Council also discussed the bylaws and formation documents for this foundation. Staff is working to finalize these documents based on feedback received. In Q3, the City Council approved a contract with a third-party consultant to revise the Nance Farm Master Plan. The conditions assessment has been completed and a Community Meeting to provide information to the public on the future of Nance Farm was held on July 14.
2nd Quarter Update April 2022
The Historical Foundation was not able to achieve a quorum to conduct business in Q2. After a presentation to the City Council, staff was directed to develop reformation options to be considered. An RFQ was issued to solicit additional responses for a firm to update the Nance Farm Master Plan to include its use as a destination for the arts in DeSoto. The action was tabled by the City Council until a meeting in May 2022.
