Parker.jpgThe Fire Marshal is tasked with a myriad of responsibilities. Code enactment and enforcement, risk reduction, fire origin and cause, investigations and arson are all the establishment of the Fire Marshal’s Office. Your Fire Marshal combines law enforcement duties with public safety responsibilities, inspecting buildings, regulating substances and conducting investigations. These are all necessary to enhance the safety our first responders, citizens, visitors and employees of DeSoto, Texas.

Bryan K. Parker was appointed to Interim Fire Marshal on September 1, 2013 by Fire Chief Jerry Duffield and was confirmed by the DeSoto City Council on March 18, 2014 as Fire Marshal. He began his career in the fire service as a volunteer more than 20 years ago and has served as a member of DeSoto Fire Rescue since October 10, 1998.

Fire Marshal Parker has a Certificate of Completion in Fire Protection Technology from Navarro College and graduated from Weatherford College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Protection and Safety Technology. He further earned a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree in Emergency Management Administration from West Texas A&M. He holds several state and national certifications such as Master Fire Fighter, Master Arson Investigator, Master Fire Inspector, and Licensed Paramedic. In addition, he is an Advanced Commissioned Peace Officer.

He serves as an active member of several fire service organizations including the Tarrant County Arson Task Force, North Texas Fire Investigators Association, International Association of Arson Investigators, National Association of Fire Investigators, and Fire Prevention Association of North Texas. He is the recipient of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Academic Achievement Award, FEMA Achievement for Standards of Excellence in Emergency Management, numerous Mayor’s Awards, Presidents Honor List for Academic Achievement, and the DeSoto Fire Rescue 2009 Fire Fighter of the Year Award. He was also able to serve with multiple deployments for Hurricane Katrina, Rita and Ike. He serves as DeSoto Fire Rescue’s Public Information Officer.
