Fire Marshal

Overview
The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for all Fire Prevention/Education Programs, Fire Inspection duties and investigation of all suspicious and incendiary fires within the incorporated city limits of DeSoto. The Fire Marshal’s Office works together with the Fire Department, the Building Inspections Department and Health Department to create a safe community for the citizens of DeSoto.

Foster Homes           
Desoto Fire Rescue will no longer be able to offer foster home fire inspections. We understand that this service has been offered for several years in DeSoto, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Services
The Fire Marshal’s Office provides services such as inspections for commercial and retail buildings to ensure the safety and well-being of the occupants, as well as the customers.

Inspections
Certificates of Occupancy inspections are done when a new business opens or a business changes owners or use. 

Investigations
Fire investigations are the responsibility of the Fire Marshal’s Office. If the fire is found to be arson once the cause and origin are determined, a criminal investigation is begun.

City Fire Code
The 2009 International Fire Code with amendments has been adopted by the City of DeSoto.
