Place Two: Mayor Pro Tem Patricia Ledbetter
Patricia Ledbetter was elected to the position of Councilmember for Place Two in May, 2008. On August 6, 2013, she was selected as Mayor Pro Tem. Prior to this, she had served the City for six years on the Arts Commission; including one year as Chairperson.
Patricia’s vision for DeSoto:
• Make DeSoto a destination for the arts
• Create a DeSoto that develops and maintains a community standard that is desirable for new and sustained growth, and continue outreach to associations and businesses that want to be good neighbors.
• Be responsive to citizens in their everyday life by listening to residents and helping prioritize goals and objectives with council colleagues. Help create a community with recognized and exemplary schools, sidewalks on streets to connect neighborhoods to schools and recreation, green communities, and walking trails and parks.
Regionally, Patricia is a member of the Texas Water Resource Council at the North Central Texas Council of Governments; Council liaison and WINGS mentor with the Desoto ISD and liaison to the DeSoto Parks Corporation. She serves on the Board of Trustees for the Southwest Children’s Chorus. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Government and History and a Leadership Southwest 25th Anniversary Graduate Class of 2010. She is a member of the Creekside Church of Christ and has resided in DeSoto since 1992 with her son, John.
