Job Kiosk

The library has a Job Kiosk from the Dallas Morning News located in the main computer lab. The kiosk allows you to search and apply for jobs advertised in the Dallas Morning News. The lab is open before and after the library closes so the Kiosk is also available. For lab hours click here.


Resume Writing Class

A two day course designed to instruct students on how to craft a resume for a 21st century job search.
Students will learn how to use Word templates to write, format, and distribute a resume that accurately reflects their skills, experience, and educational background.

Online Job Search Class

A two day course that will provide students with strategies to conduct an effective online job search. Students will learn how to assess their career goals, access job sites on the web, use job search engines, and develop organizational skills to aid the application process. Resume Writing Tutoring

If you would like one on one assistance with writing or updating your resume you can sign up for one of the tutoring sessions offered every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. For the tutoring schedule and times click here. You can also email your resume to the library tutor for proofreading and formatting edits and it will be emailed back to you with the changes. If you would like to email your resume click here. All classes, tutoring, and email services are free and open to the public.

Reference USA

The library’s subscription allows DeSoto Library patrons unlimited access to a database of 12 million U.S. businesses and 115 million U.S. residents. Patrons can use the database for conducting job searches, finding sales leads, tracking down addresses and phone numbers, and locating out-of-town companies. To use the database from home or work, type in the 14 digit number on the back of your DeSoto Library card.
