Policy Statement
As sleeting or snowing begins, the Street Department will sand the busiest intersections first (Hampton, Cockrell Hill, Pleasant Run & Belt Line Corridors); then sand remaining intersections; followed by bridges and then major roads with steep grades.

For ice events lasting longer than two days, major roads (Cockrell Hill, Hampton, Belt Line) may be sanded the entire length (material permitting). (Belt Line if TxDOT doesn't perform the sanding first.)

Street closures may occur if streets are not passable and / or multiple accidents have occurred. Street closures will be coordinated with the Police Department. Particular attention is paid to Belt Line, Cockrell Hill and Chattey Roads.

We do not sand residential streets or alleys unless assisting access for emergency vehicles.

We do not sand on request.
