The DeSoto Public Utilities Department has partnered with Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center to offer a series of water efficiency and landscape maintenance classes focused on techniques to conserve water and reduce monthly water bills. These classes are free of charge to DeSoto residents, but will require registration. Classes are limited to 75 attendees. You will want to sign up early to guarantee your seat. Here’s information on the next class:
April 25 – Rainwater Harvesting 6:30 to 8:30pm - DeSoto Civic Center
Come learn the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects storm water has on the environment. Participants will learn how to collect and utilize rainwater at home and have the opportunity to construct their very own 55 gallon rain barrel. This class is hands on "DIY" and each participant will take home a barrel. There is a fee of $17 for parts needed to build the rain barrel.
