Who can get a COVID-19 vaccine? 

At this time, the vaccine is in limited supply. Vaccine is distributed in phases.

The Dallas County Health and Human Services Department (DCHHS) is collecting the names of Dallas County residents to register for the vaccine as it becomes available. They are currently scheduling vaccine appointments for individuals who are 65 or older with an underlying high-risk health condition.

What is a phase? why does it matter?

Currently, the vaccine is distributed to Phase 1A and Phase 1B. To receive the vaccine, you need to be in Phase 1A or Phase 1B at this time.

CAN I REGISTER IF I AM NOT IN PHASE 1A OR PHASE 1B?

Yes. DCHHS has opened registration to all individuals at this time. Note: If you are not in phase 1A or phase 1B, the time between registration and receiving a vaccine appointment could be several weeks or months.

Where do I register for the vaccine?

  1. Go to the DCHHS COVID-19 Vaccine page: https://www.dallascounty.org/covid-19/covid-19-vaccination.php
  2. Click on the REGISTER FOR THE COVID VACCINE link.
  3. Fill out the registration form.
  4. Register by Phone:

    1. 1-855-IMMUNE9 (855-466-8639)
    2. The hours are 7am - 7pm, 7 days a week.
    3. There will be call takers available to register people in English and Spanish.

when is dchhs at the library to register people for the vaccine?

DCHHS will be at the DeSoto Public Library on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 between 1 PM - 5 PM. They will have computers and register anyone who has not yet registered for the COVID-19 vaccine.

I don't have a computer. Is there a paper form? 

Public computers are available at the library.

I don't drive. How can I get to a vaccination location?

STAR Transit is providing free rides for persons with confirmed appointments to get the COVID-19 vaccination shots. Rides are available Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Reservations should be made at least one service day in advance and are based on vehicle availability. 

To schedule a free ride, call STAR Transit at least one business day but not more than two weeks in advance of the desired trip.  Scheduling Agents are available during normal business hours Monday - Friday (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) at 877-631-5278. Se Habla Español.
