May 19: Dallas County and State of Texas COVID-19 Information

County State Seal Yellow

Dallas County’s press release for May 19th reported 14 deaths from COVID-19 making today the deadliest day in Dallas County so far. There are also 225 new positive cases in Dallas County: https://www.ci.desoto.tx.us/DocumentCenter/View/16881/5192020-Press-Release---Dallas-County-Reports-225-Additional-Positive-COVID-19-Cases-1

There was some encouraging news with Dallas County’s case map by Zip Code using May 18th data that was released today. DeSoto now represents a lower percentage of total positive COVID-19 cases in Dallas county. DeSoto is now included in the second-lowest “yellow” category for total cases by Zip Code in Dallas County, one level beneath the “blue” category where it has been for the past few reporting periods. At one time, the 75115 Zip Code was included in the highest “orange” category and then dropped one level to the “pink” category. So while there are many critical factors to weigh, DeSoto is making progress in relation to other parts of Dallas County which appear to be gaining positive cases at a much faster rate than we have been. https://www.ci.desoto.tx.us/DocumentCenter/View/16882/5_18_Confirmed_COVID_Cases-1
