Education and Training Information

 
 
Food Manager Certification and Food Handler Training are required by City Ordinance.  Food Manager Certification is required for the manager of a food establishment and certification is good for five (5) years.  All other food service workers who are involved with any part of food preparation are required to take state approved food handler training which is good for two (2) years.

The City of DeSoto Health Department is now an approved TDSHS Food Handler Program. Classes will be held the third Tuesday of the month every month beginning in February 2017.  Classes start at 4:00 p.m. and are $10 per person. All classes will be held in the DeSoto Civic Center located at 211 E. Pleasant Run. Links to all TDSHS-approved training programs are listed below.

Pool School is required for commercial pool operators and is provided by the City every year prior to pool season.
