Animal Control

The City of DeSoto employs two full-time and one part-time animal control officers who are responsible for patrolling the city and answering all animal-related complaints. During Daylight Savings Time, animal control officers run split shift so they can be available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Animal Shelter
When animals are picked up by animal control, they are taken to the Tri-City Animal Shelter.

Things to Know
Chapter Two of the City of DeSoto Code of Ordinances addresses Animal Control issues. Dogs in DeSoto are required to be microchipped. This chapter was amended by Ordinance 1738-07, which was approved by City Council at their regular meeting July 17, 2007.
