UPCOMING WATER CLASSES
The City of Desoto Public Utilities Department has partnered with Texas A&M Water University to offer water conservation classes to our residents. If you would like to attend any of the classes, please click the appropriate tab below and click the registration link. You will be redirected to the Texas A&M website to register. All classes are free and will be held in the Civic Center Bluebonnet #2 room.

Wondering when to prune your trees and ornamental grasses? Should you mulch in the spring, fall or both? Learn the right time to maintain your landscape and trees to ensure the health, production and asthetics of your landscaping. Click here to register. Know where your food comes from by growing your own vegetables. Learn proper soil preparation, garden design, disease and insect identification, and the proper time to germinate vegetable seeds and/or when to transplant vegetables into your garden for the season.
Come learn the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects stormwater has on the environment. Participants will learn how to collect and utilize rainwater at home and have the opportunity to construct their very own 55 gallon rain barrel. This class is hands on "DIY" and each participant will take home a barrel. There may be a small fee to cover the cost of the barrel.
Is your trash can full at the end of the week? Did you know that you can reduce the waste carried to landfills by composting more and throwing away less? This program teaches the composting process, the different types and methods of composting, as well as how to compost and itsimportance.
